Chapter 2615: Why Not?

"Right now, Amare does not have the power to evangelize Genism across humanity," Bodhisattva Maitreyi pointed out. "But once she breaks through, she will gain the power to spread Genism across all of humankind. If she spreads Genism across all of humankind, then all human beings will be able to get rid of all their fear, despair, and misery. The Era of Darkness will end when the Infinite Light within everybody dispels it."

The other Bodhisattvas nodded at her with even deep admiration as they realized the scope of her foresight and wisdom.

Over the many centuries of evangelizing Genism, the Gen Temple had come to a conclusion based on all their observations.

In order to evangelize Genism across the entirety of the world, one had to be a Bodhisattva at the bare minimum.

This was the conclusion that they had come to after centuries of efforts in spreading the wisdom of Genism to all corners of humanity.

Masters were insufficient.

They were not respected enough in the grand scale of all of human civilization. There were too many Masters across Sage-level and Master-level nations, and a Master could not convert all of them to their philosophy.

"Only a Bodhisattva commands enough respect to spread their philosophy with success," Bodhisattva Maitreyi mused. "So, what happens if a Bodhisattva whose Martial Art and Martial Path is the most pure embodiment and manifestation of Genism starts to evangelize Genism?"

The results would be far beyond what any other Bodhisattva of the Gen Temple had ever accomplished.

"Amare is already better than us when it comes to spreading Genism," Bodhisattva Maitreyi mused with a wise tone. "Once she gains Nirvana, she will truly gain the power to spread Genism across the entirety of humankind. My intuition tells me that exposure to the Dawnbringer will be good for her progress to the Bodhisattva Realm. Thus, I arranged for her battle with the Dawnbringer."

"Is that why you lied to him about needing a test for the Panacea of Thought?" Bodhisattva Pinaka, the Archer of Destruction, asked.

Bodhisattva Maitreyi nodded in a sagely manner.

The other Bodhisattvas exchanged dubious glances with each other, before turning to her with recriminating eyes.

"Lying is frowned upon in the Gen Scriptures, Bodhisattva Maitreyi."

The older woman stiffened. "...I shall engage in the penance ceremony."

"The penance ceremony is not meant to be used as an excuse!" Bodhisattva Namuk glared at her. "Tsk, this is why you have yet to become a Martial Transcendent. You mustn't stray from the path of light."

"Amitabha, your words burn my soul." Bodhisattva Maitreyi smiled wryly.

And yet, not even that was what drew his attention the most.

"Tell me..." he began with a low voice. "Tell me why a Martial Master is scrubbing the grounds of the Gen Temple."

She paused, slowly turning to him with her deep eyes.

Her eyes were of the sun, reflecting its light brightly.

And yet, the brightness didn't come from outside.

No.

It seemed to come from within her.

His mind sensed endless warmth, joy, peace, and enthusiasm.

She was devoid of even the tiniest shred of darkness.

A being of light.

She smiled at him with warmth. "Why wouldn't a Martial Master scrub the grounds of the Gen Temple?"

|| ||

He found himself to be speechless at her question.

There were a thousand reasons why the average Martial Master wouldn't scrub the ground. It was beneath them. It was unbecoming of them. It was a menial task that was not worth even their briefest consideration.

Yet, when he stared into the earnest expression on her face, he couldn't bring himself to say any of them.

"I mean, there is a Beast Incursion going on right now," Rui remarked. "Not to mention, when the Sages are gone, you will be the ones to protect the Gen Temple. Wouldn't it be prudent to hone your skills so that you will be able to protect the Gen Temple?"

Her enthusiastic smile widened. "You're right!"

She turned away from him, immediately diving back into scrubbing the ground with even greater vigor, leaving Rui dumbfounded.
