Chapter 493: Big Move
Chapter 493: Big Move
"I'm back, Est."
"Onii-chan!"
The moment Charlie opened his eyes and greeted her, his voice still somewhat raspy, Est didn't waste a single second. She threw herself into his arms, burying her face against his chest.
Charlie gently stroked the head of the petite girl in his embrace, his voice thick with apology.
"I'm sorry for making you worry, Est."
"Mm. This was Onii-chan's fault. Don't ever let this happen again." Est replied, her voice muffled, though her hands gripped Charlie's shirt tightly as if she were afraid he might vanish once more.
"Yeah..." Charlie let out a long sigh.
He realized just how reckless he had been this time. Anna's kidnapping had turned out to be merely one part of a layered conspiracy aimed at finishing him off in a Fire Stone explosion.
However, the true damage had come from an unexpected turn of events. When he had attempted to investigate the mastermind behind it all using the Hundred Gauntlets to manipulate causality, he had instead received a devastating backlash that crippled all of his Magic and Skills.
(This attack... was likely sponsored by the same mastermind behind the previous conspiracy.)
Through Senrigan, Charlie could see Aishia and Ais still fighting desperately against the enemies outside.
His gaze then shifted to the corpse of the attacker Est had killed, now lying in a pool of blood. A bitter smile touched his lips.
(Is this what they call luck in the midst of misfortune? If this person hadn't killed me, my awakening time would undoubtedly have been much longer.)
Charlie realized that the backlash from the "Divine Being" whose causality he had traced hadn't just wounded his soul; it had weakened his passive Skills to their absolute lowest point. That was the reason why a Level 2 adventurer's dagger had been able to pierce his conceptual defense, the Armor of Fafnir.
However, that very death had actually accelerated his recovery. The moment he died, the oppressive causal link from that divine being was severed, triggering God Hand to resurrect him instantly without the burden of the backlash.
"Est. Let's defeat the people who dared to attack our home. Please, lend me your strength!"
Emerging from Charlie's embrace, Est wiped the corners of her eyes, which were still slightly red. Her expression immediately returned to its flat, emotionless state, but her eyes radiated firm resolve.
"I am your sword. I will obey your every command."
Est calmly reached for Charlie's hand. The feel of the girl's palm was cool yet incredibly soft.
Charlie then steadied his stance and chanted the incantation:
"Cold-headed Queen of Steel, sacred sword that destroys evil—here and now, become the blade in my hand!"
*SRING!*
Instantly, Est's body transformed into blinding grains of light particles and vanished from sight. Shortly after, a long, double-edged sword of white and blue, with a hilt partially plated in gold, appeared in Charlie's grip. The Spirit-language literature elegantly engraved upon the corner of the blade read clearly: Terminus Est.
Just by holding it, anyone would understand that this sword possessed power that transcended the world's logic.
With the Sacred Sword in his right hand, Charlie stepped firmly toward the entrance.
His appearance immediately triggered an uproar. The presence of the Holy Sword Severian radiated an aura of sanctity so pure that it was impossible for anyone on the battlefield to ignore.
The group most excited, of course, was the Gods and Goddesses watching from a distance.
"Look at the sword in Solo Leveling's hand! That's a Spirit transformed into a blade!"
"Heavens! Its sanctity is extraordinary! It's no exaggeration to call it a true Sacred Sword!"
"Even the heroes of old didn't possess a Sacred Sword, did they? There is no doubt... Charlie Avalon is the final hero we've been waiting for to end the world's calamities!"
The gods could not tear their eyes away from Terminus Est for a single second. Their enthusiasm reached its peak, realizing they had just witnessed the rebirth of a legend in Orario.
"Tsk! Trash! What on earth were those two doing?!"
Ein clicked her tongue in annoyance, cursing the two comrades she had sent on the assassination mission. Their failure didn't just mean the target was alive, but signaled the return of a far greater threat.
"Charlie..." Ais murmured the name with a faint, almost invisible smile—a sign of relief she rarely showed in the heat of battle.
"Welcome back, Charlie." Aishia greeted warmly, her aura, which had briefly turned cold, now returning to a calm yet vigilant state.
"We'll talk later. For now, let's finish off the enemy."
Charlie answered briefly without shifting his gaze. He did not want a repeat of this situation in the future. To ensure that no one else would ever dare lay a hand on what was his, he decided to perform a big move—a severe warning that would be etched into everyone's minds regarding the risk of provoking Charlie Avalon.
*SHUA!*
An incredibly massive surge of magic essence erupted from his body, forming a roaring storm of energy around him. Charlie gripped the hilt of Terminus Est tightly with both hands, positioning the Sacred Sword directly in front of his chest.
Suddenly, an apocalyptic phenomenon occurred. A giant purple dome, a condensation of pure Mana, enveloped the entirety of Orario—a span reaching two to three times the size of any kingdom's capital. From a distance, the Labyrinth City looked like a bird inside a cage of lethal light.
The oppressive pressure from that purple dome triggered mass panic. If ordinary civilians could feel the life-threatening danger, the adventurers on the surface with their sharp perceptions were now filled with utter despair. They trembled, as if the Angel of Death were standing right before their eyes.
"Hisss... Such terrifying energy... Don't tell me Solo Leveling wants to blow up all of Orario?!"
Unlike the mortals who were gripped by horror, the Gods showed a unique response. There was no fear of death, but rather an anxiety that their "playground" would vanish in an instant.
"Is that even possible? Even the Strongest Mage, Nine Hell, Riveria Ljos Alf of the Loki Familia, doesn't have magic capable of annihilating all of Orario in a single strike!" a god exclaimed in a tone of disbelief and awe.
"Wow, we really underestimated Solo Leveling! It turns out he was hiding a power far more horrific than we imagined!"
"Hey, Solo Leveling! Don't destroy Orario!"
The gods began to shout, coaxing Charlie to abandon his intent. However, this persuasion wasn't because they cared about the lives of millions in the city. They simply didn't want their luxury entertainment to disappear, and most importantly, they were unwilling to be forcibly sent back to Heaven because their mortal vessels were destroyed in a magical explosion.
