Chapter 1089 - 1060: Between Crime and Punishment (2)
"Alright, if Mr. Su doesn’t object, I’d like my bodyguard to search this gentleman first... Ah, hahaha, this is for everyone’s safety." As soon as he finished speaking, he signaled to his bodyguards, who stepped forward to thoroughly search the person designated by Mr. Su, finding weapons and placing them in a box to the side.
"Now we are all safe, please come in!"
Sitting on a rocking chair by the edge of the balcony was an elderly man with a head full of white hair. He was watching the sunset with his clouded eyes, holding a cigarette between his fingers, slowly emitting smoke, with a long trail of ash that seemed to suggest it hadn’t been moved for a long time.
His clouded eyes seemed unfocused, and it was unclear what he was thinking. His twitching lips occasionally quivered, causing the corners of his eyes to twitch slightly. He looked somewhat frail and elderly, but there were surprisingly few wrinkles on his face. He wasn’t truly an old man, despite his full head of white hair, which couldn’t conceal his youthful face.
A creak sounded behind him, causing the ash from the cigarette in the old man’s hand to fall onto the expensive carpet, making Robert, who had just entered the room, frown. "Mr. Wang, Mr. Su is here!" His voice was calm, with no trace of dissatisfaction.
"Please sit!" The old man in the rocking chair casually pointed to a convenient spot as he rose from the chair. "Robert, could you prepare something light for us? I think Mr. Su and I need some time to discuss a few matters."
"I’m afraid I don’t have much time, Mr. Wang. Let’s get to the point," Mr. Su said as he sat down on a chair near the door. Wang Zhanting was taken aback, and he couldn’t help but look at Robert, who shrugged helplessly, indicating he didn’t really know what was happening either.
"Mr. Su, I think you might be misunderstanding something?"
"No! Mr. Shao explained things very clearly to me. But Mr. Wang, it seems you’re not very clear about what happened with the Gambino situation. There are police everywhere outside, it’s quite unsettled over there. Not only did people die, but there was also a big explosion. I think Palermo’s security still needs improvement. If my goods end up in a place that’s crawling with police all the time, I don’t need you to tell me that there’s going to be a distribution problem. Rather than selling to you here, I’d rather ship it to the United States, where the market is much larger."
"So, are you saying that our territory is too small for you, Mr. Su?" Wang Zhanting squinted his eyes. At this moment, he looked like a fox, almost as though he had his prey firmly in his grasp. "I think Mr. Shao’s intention isn’t clear to you yet. The goods in your hand can only go to one place, and that is here with us. If you decide their destination on your own, the outcome could be very disastrous."
"Wang Zhanting, are you threatening me? We’ve always done business with Genovis, even the current Nicholas gives us some respect. You’ve only been here for such a short time, what kind of thing are you, trying to make us sell to you at fifty percent below the current price? How am I supposed to feed my people?"
"Mr. Su, if you want to feed your people, perhaps you should consider whether you’ll live to do so. I don’t care about your cooperation with Genovis, but ninety percent of your goods need to go through me. That’s the deal." Wang Zhanting wasn’t used to seeing people from such a distance, his clouded eyes showing a hint of confusion. "You should know that the Wang Family holds half of the lifeline of the underworld, and Mr. Shao holds the other half. Do you want to turn to dust in our hands, or do you wish to reach great heights?"
"Wang Zhanting, are you threatening me? Who doesn’t know who your brother died at the hands of?" Mr. Su retorted, not backing down, choosing the most untimely words.
"Haha, good!" Wang Zhanting burst into laughter. "I was even willing to send my brother away, why should I care about an outsider like you?"
"You..."
"The newspapers made quite a splash, describing how he was chopped into pieces like a lump of meat, with his limbs severed and his facial features removed. Doesn’t it sound tragic?" Wang Zhanting suddenly broke into laughter. "Mr. Su, how do you find such a death? Since you’re so interested in my brother, I can fulfill your little wish and let you go down to have a good chat with him about how you both felt back then."
"Even if you kill me, you can’t get my goods!"
"Oh really? Others might not agree with that. The people around you are eager for you to die early. The position of drug lord of the Golden Triangle is something everyone wants. Once I help them sort you out, do you think I wouldn’t be able to get what I want? Mr. Su, you can’t be so naive as to think everyone around you is loyal, can you? Even if they are, what about your sons?"
"But selling at fifty percent below the current price is too low. That wasn’t how Zhan Tian discussed it with me." Mr. Su took a deep breath, raising his eyebrows as if suppressing something.
"It seems Mr. Su really likes my big brother. But he’s already dead, and now it’s my decision. Understand?" Wang Zhanting raised his chin as Robert quietly stepped forward. "What do you think of this deal, Mr. Su?"
"If Mr. Wang thinks you can get rid of me, then go ahead and talk to the new successor. But the people from the Golden Triangle are not that easily bullied." As soon as the words fell, a bright silver light rushed towards the left side of his carotid artery!
Clang! Boom! Two different sounds rang out simultaneously. The first to face resistance was Robert, who, when he thought he was about to solve this issue with Mr. Su, who was only half a step away, suddenly felt a powerful force open up the knife in his hand. His hand instantly grew numb, and then a heavy blow from behind sent him tumbling toward Mr. Su’s position.
The first reaction of Wang Zhanting was to protect his back as a strong force attacked. He bolted towards the door, a gun already in his hand, and fired a shot at Mr. Su.
Two clangs were heard, sparks flew mid-air as Wang Zhanting looked outside the balcony. Someone, unbeknownst to him, had descended from the sky, knocking the two bullets he fired to the side. Meanwhile, Robert was already trembling in confrontation with the bodyguards Mr. Su brought along. Unexpectedly, Robert seemed to have some skills, though clearly no match for that man.
"Who are you?" Wang Zhanting asked the shadow partially covering his face.
"Long time no see, Uncle Wang." Xiao Lin pulled down his mask, smirking as he stood in front of Wang Zhanting.
"It’s you!" Robert shouted as soon as he saw an outsider enter.
"No need to shout, no one will come up." Xiao Lin waved at Robert, then turned to Wang Zhanting. "Are you coming with me willingly, or are you going to be forced to?"
"It’s not that easy to catch me!" Wang Zhanting came out of his brief shock and immediately rushed towards the door. Xiao Lin kicked a nearby lamp with his toe, aiming at his lower cover as he was about to stride out.
A cry of surprise, Wang Zhanting fell to the ground. Seeing this, Robert slapped the person in front and jumped over, one hand on the door and the other grasping Wang Zhanting’s arm. Amidst the chaos, Mr. Su had quietly hidden under the coffee table.
"Robert, you’d better not meddle!" Xiao Lin told Robert, who wanted to help Wang Zhanting leave, while tossing a short knife at the unarmed bodyguard. "Watch your master." He stepped towards the struggling person attempting to stand. "Wang Zhantian is dead, died right in front of me, and the entire Palermo Police Station is searching for the killer. Coincidentally, I’m part of this investigation. Wang Zhanting, I must take you to the police station based on your earlier words, Mr. Su can testify, right?"
"No problem, as long as you guarantee my safety." The person hiding under the coffee table was quite perceptive, responding swiftly. The person holding the knife glanced at Xiao Lin, already by Mr. Su’s side, facing the balcony vigilantly.
"You, Xiao Lin, don’t get too complacent. Try catching me when you have the guts to come again!" Saying so, the person lunged forward, rolling to the ground, dragging Robert down with him.
Bang! A bullet grazed Robert’s back, and a scream filled the air, the smell of burnt skin wafted out. Xiao Lin leaped back, dodging in mid-air as the bullet flew wide, and Wang Zhanting seized the moment, darting out the door, dragging Robert along to run downstairs.
Xiao Lin snorted coldly and glanced back at the bodyguard, who had already followed them out.
In the hall, a giant beside a peculiar-looking dwarf, with a red nose and large shoes, resembling a clown. No, he is a clown, juggling three balls in the air. Wang Zhanting stood behind them, sneering at Xiao Lin. Beside him, Robert still hadn’t fully recovered from the bullet graze, standing there dumbfounded.
"Xiao Lin, let’s see how you handle two sides. The moment you left that room, Mr. Su’s life was in my hands. Taking things from me isn’t that simple."
"Wang Zhanting, you’re already a dead man, trying to stir up trouble here without realizing whose territory this is. Know that those who betray brothers for glory never end well." Xiao Lin suddenly found him pitiful, but the two blocking his path weren’t giving him any chance.
The clown’s balls flew towards Xiao Lin’s forehead. Slightly turning aside, the balls brushed past his nose, flying behind him. At this moment, the first to charge was the clown in big shoes, swinging a small axe spinning in his palm towards Xiao Lin’s left shoulder. (To be continued.
