Chapter 1210 - 1249: In the Kitchen
At this moment, Mabel Quinn’s gaze fell on the distant side profile of Kyle Kinston. Had this man once tortured himself because of her accident?
Listening to Alice’s description, she found it hard to imagine. Once, she thought that her going incognito might make him sad, might bring him pain, but not for long. After all, his relationship with Francine Howards... and a man like him wouldn’t allow himself to be controlled by emotions. Reason would surely prevail over feelings, and he would inevitably sort out his emotions as quickly as possible.
But unexpectedly... he turned out to be like that.
"What are you thinking about when you’re looking at me?" Kyle Kinston’s voice suddenly sounded in her ear.
Mabel snapped back to reality, realizing she had been staring at him, lost in thought. When she met his dark eyes, for a moment, she felt a sense of panic.
"Nothing, just thank you for accompanying Ivy to the sports day today." No matter what happened between her and Kyle Kinston, at least her daughter was very happy today.
Kyle Kinston’s face slightly darkened, "It was meant for parents to accompany the child. I believe that’s my responsibility, no need for your thanks." Her thanks only made him feel distanced.
So, Mabel didn’t say anything more, just patted her daughter’s little head and asked her what she wanted to eat for dinner.
Once back at the apartment complex, Mabel let her daughter play with those little toys on her own, while she went to the kitchen to prepare a meal. As for Kyle Kinston... he clearly didn’t intend to leave. Thinking of her daughter’s happiness today, Mabel didn’t have the heart to ask him to go, so she simply let him stay in the living room with her daughter while she went to the kitchen.
Mabel cooked the meal. Although her foot injury hadn’t completely healed, she couldn’t run and could only walk slowly, at least she didn’t need crutches anymore.
At this moment, she didn’t even notice a figure approaching the kitchen, leaning quietly against the kitchen doorway, watching her busy silhouette.
Kyle Kinston only felt that the scene before him was filled with a familiar sensation, as if he had seen it many times before...
What beautiful moments should there have been between him and her? And yet, he had forgotten all of them.
When Mabel turned around, she saw Kyle Kinston standing at the kitchen door, and nearly dropped the spatula in her hand to the ground.
"You... aren’t you in the living room with Ivy?" she asked.
"Ivy is watching an animation," he replied.
She understood. When her daughter watched animations, she was so focused, completely engrossed in the screen, not needing anyone to accompany her at all.
"Have you met that woman’s cousin?" he suddenly asked.
"What?" She didn’t react for a moment.
"Previously at the kindergarten, a woman mentioned she introduced her cousin to you," he said.
She almost choked on her own saliva, truly did not expect him to remember that conversation. However, meeting his gaze, she showed no sign of evasion, "Yes, I have." It was only when she went to pick up her daughter from kindergarten that the woman brought her cousin along, so they met.
"Why did you meet him? Are you really looking for a partner?" he questioned.
She chuckled softly, "It seems like whether or not I’m looking for a partner is something I don’t need to report to you."
