Chapter 66 Defense Tower Arena
Chapter 66 Defense Tower Arena
In the thugs' guild hall, Wang Dao and a group of "experts" were discussing how to get through Jingyang Ridge. Meanwhile, on the Thunder Pool side, the 14th wave of monster invasions was almost over.
The 14th wave of invading monsters are members of the Goblin Royal Guard. These monsters wear green cloaks and green boots, hold javelins in their right hands, wear belts, and march in step. They have a high health of 2200 and two points of armor and two points of magic resistance.
Ultimately, the entire honor guard perished on Jingyang Ridge, while the Azure Dragon among them gained another 40 years of cultivation.
"Ding! Congratulations on successfully defeating the 14th wave of monster invasion. Rewards have been calculated. Your level has increased to LV10, and your level cap has increased to LV14... The width of the War Corridor has increased by two meters, and the area of the camp square has increased by one acre."
After hearing the system notification, Lei Chi looked at the camp square, which was indeed slowly expanding, eventually reaching the size of four acres.
"Let's keep going! Wave 15, let's go!"
Lei Chi continued to initiate the monster invasion. Three minutes later, the 15th wave of invading monsters appeared from the time-space wormhole. They were goblin high priests wearing wide, emerald green robes.
Goblin High Priests have only 2250 health points, but they possess healing abilities that allow them to restore 50 health points to themselves or their allies every 10 seconds.
This level is quite difficult. The more Goblin Priests spawn, the harder it is to defend against them. Players with insufficient tower firepower may not even be able to deal enough damage per second to the Goblin Priests to recover their own health.
Players who can defeat this wave of jungle monsters can no longer be considered low-level players.
Jingyanggang perfectly countered the Goblin High Priest, and this wave of monster invasion went unnoticed, only contributing 40 years of cultivation to the Azure Dragon in Jingyanggang.
"Ding! Congratulations on successfully defeating the 15th wave of monster invasion. Rewards have been calculated. Your level has increased to LV11, and the level cap has been increased to LV15... The [Tower Arena] and [Tower Brawl] gameplay modes have been unlocked. Please go to the [War Hall] for details."
"Ding! You can start the 16th wave of monster invasion at any time. The invading monster is a LV16 Rolling Stone Boar. The Rolling Stone Boar has a fast movement speed and high physical defense, and can damage camp buildings. Please start with caution."
"After slimes, skeletons, and goblins, it's finally time to fight wild boars..."
Lei Chi wasn't in a hurry to continue the monster invasion. Instead, he went to the War Hall and curiously studied the gameplay of the Tower Arena and Tower Brawl.
These are two fun little games.
【Tower Arena】is a competitive game where players are divided into two opposing sides. Players can engage in one-on-one battles or multiplayer battles, with a maximum of ten players against ten.
Once the game starts, each player has a camp with a king statue in it. The player who successfully destroys the king statue in the opposing camp wins the game.
Both sides' camps will continuously spawn troop units, and these units will become stronger as the game progresses.
Players can accumulate in-game currency by hunting in the wild, completing quests, defeating squads, killing enemy players, and demolishing buildings on the game map.
You can use in-game currency to purchase random defense tower construction blueprints. These blueprints are based on the specific defense towers in the player's secret camp, and their attributes will only be displayed after purchase.
Unlike the defensive towers in the secret camp, the defensive towers in the [Defense Tower Arena] are not invincible, but have a fixed durability of only 3,000 points, regardless of their tier.
Once players have the blueprints, they can build defensive towers and choose any location to build them. However, while building a defensive tower, the player must be nearby and cannot move or attack for ten seconds, otherwise the construction will be interrupted.
After winning in the [Tower Arena], players can receive gold coin rewards and some exclusive costume items.
Overall, playing [Tower Arena] is a form of leisure and entertainment, emphasizing enjoyment. If you play well, you might earn money faster than digging.
Lei Chi was also bored. He found that there were quite a few players playing the [Tower Arena], and the most popular mode was 3v3. So he "randomly matched" for a game.
"Random matchmaking" means that the system automatically assigns teams to players participating in the battle based on their level information, historical battle records, and other information. Lei Chi waited for less than 10 seconds before the team was formed. Then, his figure flashed and he was teleported to the arena map.
"Ding! Welcome to the Tower Arena! Enjoy the game!"
A system notification sounded in Lei Chi's mind. He quickly looked around and found himself in a wilderness camp. There were many trees around, and the terrain seemed a bit complicated.
In the center of the camp, there is a ten-meter-tall statue of the king with a durability of 10,000. Behind the statue are three wooden arrow towers with a durability of 3,000, an attack power of 20, and a range of 20 meters.
In front of the king's statue are three barracks huts displaying a countdown to the deployment of troops, with less than 60 seconds remaining.
Lei Chi stood in front of the king's statue, with two other players beside him: "Han Shouxin, a level 20 Elemental Tower player" and "Xiang Duoyu, a level 18 Mechanical Tower player".
Han Shouxin was a burly man. He squinted at Lei Chi and Xiang Duoyu, his expression cold.
Xiang Duoyu was thin and looked very young, like a middle school student. He seemed a bit timid in front of Han Shouxin, and said with a grin, "Please carry me, big shot! This is my third time playing, I'm still not very familiar with it!"
"What a loser! If you don't know how to play, go play one-on-one. Playing three-on-three is just ripping people off..."
Han Shouxin immediately grimaced and berated Xiang Duoyu on the spot. He then looked at Lei Chi and said, "I'm really unlucky today. Why do I keep getting matched with trash teammates? This time it's the most outrageous. There's even a level 11 player. What a terrible matchmaking system."
Lei Chi frowned upon hearing this, but ignored Han Shouxin and began to study it silently on his own.
Han Shouxin then said, "You two don't know how, so listen to my command. You don't need to do anything later, just rush into the enemy camp, harass them while they farm and do quests, and affect their economy. I'll develop on my own first. Once I'm ready, I'll call you to gather, and you'll charge with me and protect my safety."
"Is this okay? It's a 3v3 game, and we're just going to harass? Don't we even bother to develop our own strength?"
Xiang Duoyu asked in a low voice.
"This is the strategy. Listen to me, cooperate well, and you'll have a chance to win. As the saying goes, it's not the god-like opponents you should fear, but the pig-like teammates. Whether we win or not depends on whether you can cooperate."
"Alright!" Xiang Duoyu looked at Lei Chi and said, "Let's go harass them."
Lei Chi nodded. It was his first time playing, and he didn't have any particular goals. Running around on the map was just fine.
Soon, Lei Chi and Xiang Duoyu rushed out of their own camp and entered the woods.
Then he discovered that there were three paths in and out of the woods, named "Upper Path", "Middle Path" and "Lower Path". Outside the camp there was a wilderness area with lots of grass and trees, as well as monster strongholds, gold coin collection points, quest NPC spawn points, and so on.
Players need to enter the jungle to develop their character.
However, Xiang Duoyu led Lei Chi without hunting in the wild, mining for gold, or accepting any missions. He simply ran along the middle lane and headed straight for the enemy camp.
"Let's listen to the pros and harass them! Target their jungler and their quest completion!"
Xiang Duoyu looked very serious. He led Lei Chi and in less than eight minutes, they found the enemy player in a monster stronghold next to the opponent's camp.
The opposing team consists of three junglers, all level 15: a Mech player, a Tech Tower player, and a Mystic Tower player.
When Xiang Duoyu saw that the players on the other side were of a lower level than him, he was immediately filled with confidence and rushed over to attack them. Lei Chi couldn't stop him, and then he was surrounded by the three of them and got a good beating.
"Hey idiot, don't just stand there! Come help me! Can't you see the three of them are ganging up on me?"
Xiang Duoyu was furious when she realized that Lei Chi hadn't followed.
Lei Chi said, "No way!"
He thought to himself, "Only a fool would charge in. It's two against three, and the other side is right next to the camp. What's the point of fighting? If they want to harass us, they can just throw an egg from a distance or talk us out of it. Why do they have to rush over and get beaten up?"
Upon hearing Lei Chi's words, Xiang Duoyu couldn't help but curse, "Trash, you tricked me!"
Then he was killed, his body turned into white light, and he returned to the camp to be resurrected.
"Ding! Your teammate has been eliminated. Please wait 30 minutes to respawn!"
"Ding! Player Jiang Xiuyue has secured First Blood. An additional 100 game coins are awarded!"
